Privacy policy
Last updated: July 13, 2026
Longue Durée ("we," "us," "the brand") is committed to protecting the personal information of those who visit our site and purchase from us. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices available to you. It is written to reflect how we actually operate: we collect as little as the work requires, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
The site is operated by Longue Durée, PO Box 403, Toronto STN A, M5W 1C2, Canada. For any privacy question, or to exercise the rights described below, write to our Privacy Officer at care@longue-duree.com.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you subscribe to our correspondence, we collect your email address. When you write to us through the contact form, we collect your email address, your message, and your name if you choose to provide it (the name field is optional). When you place an order, we collect the information necessary to fulfil it: your name, shipping and billing address, email address, and order details.
Information collected automatically. We use a privacy-focused analytics provider to understand how the site is used in aggregate. Our analytics provider does not use cookies, does not collect or store personal information, and does not track you across other websites. It records anonymised, aggregated measures such as pages viewed, general engagement with our films and essays, and country of origin at the level of general region. This data cannot be used to identify you. During checkout, our e-commerce platform may also process limited technical information necessary to operate the store, maintain security, process checkout, and prevent fraud.
Payment information
Payments are processed by our e-commerce platform and its payment partners. Your full card details are handled directly by these payment processors and are not stored on our systems. We receive confirmation of a completed transaction and the order details necessary to fulfil and support your purchase.
Cookies
We keep cookies to the minimum the site requires to function. The only cookies in use are strictly necessary cookies set by our e-commerce platform — these enable core functions such as maintaining your shopping bag, processing checkout securely, and preventing fraud. Because these cookies are essential to the operation of the store, disabling them may prevent parts of the site from working. We do not use advertising, marketing, or cross-site tracking cookies, and our analytics provider does not set cookies at all.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to send you our correspondence if you have subscribed, to respond to your messages, to process and deliver your orders, to provide post-purchase support including repairs and care, and to meet our legal and tax obligations. We rely on your consent for marketing correspondence and on the performance of our contract with you for order fulfilment.
We do not use your personal information to make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Email correspondence
Our correspondence is sent through a third-party email service. Every message includes a clear means of unsubscribing, and you may withdraw your consent at any time. This service processes your email address and your engagement with our messages — such as delivery, opens, clicks, and unsubscribes — on our behalf, solely to deliver and manage our correspondence. Some open data may be approximate because of recipient privacy settings.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us operate — our e-commerce platform, payment processors, email provider, and shipping carrier — and only to the extent each needs it to perform its function. Some of these providers, and the servers that store your information, may be located outside Canada, including in the United States, where your information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We may also disclose information where required by law.
International orders and duties
For orders shipped internationally, we share the necessary recipient and order details with our shipping carrier and relevant customs authorities to deliver your order and clear it through customs.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as necessary for the purposes above, or as required by tax, accounting, and legal obligations. Order records are retained for the period required by law. If you unsubscribe, we retain a minimal record of your withdrawal so that we can honour it.
Your rights
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to any legal retention obligations. You may withdraw your consent to marketing correspondence at any time. To make a request, write to us at care@longue-duree.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
If you are a resident of Quebec, you have additional rights under provincial law, including the right to the portability of your information and the right to be informed of automated decision-making. Residents of the European Union and United Kingdom have rights under the GDPR, including the rights listed above and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Our site uses SSL encryption, and payment processing is handled by PCI-compliant providers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, is always available on this page.
